Job Announcement

Behavior Therapist on contract basis
Rate of Pay: $45/hour
Hours per week:  20-30

SUMMARY:
Plans and implements therapy sessions for children and adolescents with specific disabilities or behavioral issues primarily in the Autism Spectrum. Assesses clients' abilities and develops individualized treatment plans consistent with treatment goals using the Ziggurat model.  Provides family therapy and support for client families.  Works to integrates overall developmental goals into the client’s home life and school.  Manages behavior of clients to create a safe physical and emotional therapeutic environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develops, writes, and implements treatment plans and therapeutic programs in accordance with individualized needs of each client.
2. Facilitates therapeutic sessions using appropriate interventions.
3. Manages client behavior to encourage best possible social learning.
4. Interacts with and participates in consultations with specialists as appropriate in order to plan and prepare each child's individualized treatment program in accordance with goals.
5. May coordinate programs with related disciplines for therapeutic purposes; attends multi-disciplinary meetings to facilitate comprehensive program planning.
6. Prepares appropriate documentation and reports on programs and on client progress.
7. May coordinate and lead the work of others.
8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Masters Degree in Counseling or Social Work.
At least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

State of New Mexico Clinical License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
• Knowledge of behavioral therapy methods for clients with learning, physical and behavioral disabilities.
• Ability to appropriately handle sensitive, confidential issues.
• Ability to evaluate, design, and implement therapy, and assessment methodologies.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Facilitation skills. 
• Ability to work with and collaborate with education and health care specialists.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Ability to work with a team and independently.
• Ability to work outdoors comfortably.
• Ability to work with Horses and adventure therapy models.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Position requires: A) application of evidence-based Ziggurat model to clients with a range of disabilities; B) Imparting social learning skills with clients with developmental and/or behavioral disorders in a therapeutic setting; C) planning, development, and delivery of therapy to clients with developmental and/or behavioral disorders; D) incorporation of multidisciplinary psychosocial needs and issues into the development of individual treatment goals and plans; E) professional collaboration with client families, school personnel, and other treatment specialists.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Must be willing to work on contract basis and work according to contract requirements.
• Must carry own professional liability insurance.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• Work is normally performed in an outdoor environment using equine and adventure therapy interventions.
• Medium physical effort. Requires some standing and walking.
• Limited exposure to physical risk.

Casa Mia Ranch provides training of equine and adventure methods and use of the Ziggurat Model.
